Odoo accounting in the UAE that your finance team can file from with confidence

We set up Odoo so VAT, Corporate Tax records and foreign currency balances come out of everyday transactions. Your accountant reviews the figures instead of rebuilding them in spreadsheets.

In short

Odoo accounting: UAE

Odoo accounting in the UAE means configuring Odoo's Accounting app so that a company's ledgers, VAT figures and tax records meet the requirements that apply in the Emirates. In practice that covers the UAE chart of accounts, 5% VAT with zero-rated and exempt cases, multi-currency entries, and a chart that separates the income and expenses relevant to Corporate Tax. It also means preparing invoice data for the e-invoicing system the Ministry of Finance is phasing in. Your tax adviser stays responsible for filings; Odoo provides the clean figures.

Local context

The UAE tax picture your ledger has to support

Rules change, so treat this as a summary and check the current requirements with your accountant or tax adviser.

01

VAT at 5%

VAT has applied at a standard rate of 5% since 1 January 2018. It is administered by the Federal Tax Authority, and returns are filed through the EmaraTax portal. Odoo's UAE localization supports VAT reporting, which gives your accountant the figures needed for the return.

02

Corporate Tax

Corporate Tax applies at 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000 for financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023. Odoo does not file it, but a well-structured chart of accounts makes adjustments such as non-deductible expenses easier to identify.

03

E-invoicing being phased in

The Ministry of Finance has announced mandatory e-invoicing using a Peppol-based model, with invoices exchanged through Accredited Service Providers and larger businesses moving first. Odoo is not itself an accredited provider, so an integration with one may be needed. Check the latest MoF and FTA timeline.

04

Free-zone and mainland ledgers

Groups with free-zone and mainland entities often need separate books per company because tax treatment can differ. Odoo keeps each ledger apart while allowing consolidated management reports.

05

AED alongside USD

Purchases in USD or other currencies and sales in AED create exchange differences that must be posted correctly. Odoo records realised and unrealised gains and losses once rates are maintained.

Working together

Working with your finance team from Pakistan

Accounting setup depends on careful review, which suits a remote, document-led way of working.

Your adviser stays in the loop

We share the tax configuration in writing so your accountant or tax agent can approve it. We do not give tax advice or file returns.

Month-end aware scheduling

With Pakistan one hour ahead and a shared Monday to Friday week, we plan cut-over and training away from your closing days.

Parallel period before switching

Your team runs a sample period in Odoo and compares it with existing books, so differences are found before the old system is retired.

Process

How a project runs

FAQ

Questions we hear most

Can Odoo produce our UAE VAT return?

Odoo's UAE localization supports VAT reporting and produces the figures needed for the return, depending on your Odoo edition and version. Filing is still done on the FTA's EmaraTax portal, by you or your tax agent.

Does Odoo calculate UAE Corporate Tax?

Not as a finished return. Odoo gives you accurate accounting profit and well-organized accounts, which your tax adviser uses to calculate taxable income and the 9% charge above AED 375,000. We structure the chart of accounts to make that work easier.

Is Odoo ready for UAE e-invoicing?

Odoo can hold the data e-invoicing needs, but it is not an Accredited Service Provider, so an integration with one may be required. The system is being phased in, so confirm your timeline with the Ministry of Finance or FTA guidance and your adviser.

Can we run free-zone and mainland companies in one Odoo?

Yes. Each company keeps its own chart of accounts, taxes and reports in one database, and users only see the companies they are allowed to access. Your adviser should confirm the tax treatment of each entity.

Can you move our books from QuickBooks, Tally or Zoho to Odoo?

Yes. We migrate the trial balance, open customer and supplier items and bank balances at a cut-over date, then reconcile them with your accountant before the old system is closed.
