Odoo ERP · Payroll
We translate your pay policy into salary structures and rules, test them against past payroll results, and post payroll to accounting automatically.
Odoo payroll implementation is the configuration of Odoo's Payroll app (an Enterprise app) to calculate employee pay from contract and wage details, working time and salary rules. It covers salary structure types, structures, salary rule categories, the rules for basic pay, allowances, deductions, taxes and contributions, work entries from attendance and time off, payslip batches and the journal entries that payroll posts. Because payroll law differs by country, local rules must be configured and validated rather than assumed.
Payroll is the one process employees check personally, every month. When it runs in spreadsheets, formulas are copied forward, exceptions are handled by hand, and nobody but the payroll officer can explain a number. Moving to Odoo Payroll brings calculation rules, approvals and accounting into the ERP, but it also exposes every inconsistency in pay policy. Odoo provides payroll localizations for some countries; elsewhere, tax and contribution rules have to be built and verified with care.
Spreadsheet payroll grows over years, and the logic behind allowances and deductions is undocumented.
Absences, overtime and unpaid leave are re-keyed from HR records into payroll each month.
Income tax slabs, social security and other contributions change, and updating every formula is error-prone.
Salary expense, payable and deduction accounts are posted by hand from summary sheets after each run.
We document your earnings, allowances, deductions, overtime rules, loans or advances and statutory items before anything is configured.
We check whether Odoo provides a payroll localization for your country and version, what it covers, and which local rules need custom configuration. Your payroll or tax adviser validates statutory calculations.
Structure types, structures per employee group, rule categories and salary rules written as fixed amounts, percentages or Python code where the calculation requires it.
Work entry types connected to attendance, time off and working schedules, plus payslip inputs for variable items such as bonuses or deductions.
Odoo payslips compared with your existing payroll results for the same periods until differences are explained and resolved.
Salary rules mapped to debit and credit accounts so each payslip batch creates journal entries, plus payslip PDFs and payroll summary reports.
Each line on a payslip comes from a named rule that can be reviewed.
Attendance and time off feed payroll without re-entry.
Payslip batches create journal entries in the accounts you define.
When rates change, the relevant rule is updated once and tested before the next run.

No, Odoo Payroll is an Enterprise app. Community users sometimes use third-party payroll modules, but those are not maintained by Odoo and need to be assessed carefully.
Odoo provides payroll localizations for a number of countries, and coverage differs between countries and versions. Where no localization exists, or it doesn't cover your rules, tax and contribution calculations are configured as salary rules or built in a custom module and validated with your adviser.
Salary rules are the individual calculations in a payslip, such as basic salary, housing allowance, overtime, income tax or a loan deduction. Each rule has a condition, an amount defined as fixed, percentage or Python code, a category and optional accounting accounts.
