Branches disagree on price and stock
Each till has its own product list, so price changes and stock transfers are applied late or not at all.
Odoo ERP · Point of Sale
We set up Odoo Point of Sale for shops and restaurants so every counter sells from the same catalogue, every session closes against cash and card totals, and head office sees each branch without waiting for reports.
Odoo POS implementation is the setup of Odoo's Point of Sale app for retail counters or restaurants, including hardware, payment methods, product and pricing rules, cash control and the accounting entries each session produces. Because POS runs on the same database as Inventory and Accounting, stock moves and sales postings happen automatically when sessions close, and the app can keep selling briefly if the internet connection drops.
Many retailers run a standalone till at each branch, export sales at night and reconcile stock and cash by hand. Prices drift between branches, promotions are applied inconsistently, and stock figures are always a day behind. Odoo POS removes the separate till database, but a smooth counter depends on decisions made before launch: hardware, barcode formats, payment methods, session rules and how much each cashier is allowed to change.
Each till has its own product list, so price changes and stock transfers are applied late or not at all.
Without session controls and clear payment methods, end-of-day counts do not match and the cause is hard to trace.
Printers, scanners, scales, drawers and card terminals that were never tested together stop the queue on launch day.
In restaurants, orders shouted or handwritten to the kitchen lead to mistakes, and split bills take too long at the table.
One POS configuration per counter or outlet with its own stock location, journals and options; for restaurants, floor plans, tables, order notes, course handling and bill splitting.
Receipt and kitchen printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers, customer displays and scales, connected directly or through an IoT Box, and tested together before go-live.
Cash, card terminals supported in your region, bank transfer and on-account payment methods, with opening and closing counts so each session can be reconciled.
Pricelists per branch or customer group, discount rules, loyalty points, gift cards and coupons applied the same way at every till.
Stock deducted from each outlet's location, replenishment from the warehouse, and session postings to the right sales, tax and payment accounts.
Custom receipt layouts and, where your tax authority requires live invoice reporting such as FBR integration in Pakistan, a connector built and tested for your POS.
Price and product changes made once apply to all outlets on their next load.
Opening and closing counts by payment method make cash differences visible and traceable.
Every sale moves stock from the outlet's location, so replenishment is based on real figures.
Closed sessions post their own entries, removing a manual step between sales and finance.
Clothing, electronics or pharmacy chains selling from one catalogue, with branch pricelists, stock transfers and a head-office view of every session.
Table service with floor plans, kitchen printing by preparation area, course handling and split bills at the table.
Scales connected to the POS, barcodes with embedded weight or price, and fast checkout for high transaction volumes.
Walk-in customers invoiced on account, with credit limits and quotations from Sales picked up at the counter.
Hardware is tested before installation and one outlet goes live before the rest.
We walk through how a sale actually happens today, on a call or on site: queue, scanning, payments, returns, discounts and closing.
A hardware list per outlet and a POS configuration plan per counter, including stock locations and journals.
Product catalogue, barcodes, categories, taxes and pricelists cleaned and imported, since POS speed depends on good product data.
POS settings and devices set up on a test station with your team, with every payment method and receipt type tried before installation.
One branch or counter goes live first so cashiers and managers can raise issues before the rest follow.
Short, hands-on sessions for selling, returns and closing, plus manager training on reports and session control.
Remaining outlets switched in a planned sequence with support during the first trading days.
Employee login with PIN or badge, with restrictions on discounts, price changes and refunds by role.
Only managers can close sessions with unexplained cash differences or reopen closed ones.
Card details are handled by the payment terminal and provider, not stored in Odoo.
Each outlet's sessions, stock and journals are kept apart, with consolidated reporting for head office.
Your device combination is set up and tried together in a test setup before the counter opens.
We configure both counter retail and table service, and know where their setups differ.
We also build custom POS and restaurant systems, so we can tell you when Odoo POS fits and when a dedicated build makes more sense.
Where tax rules require live invoice reporting, we build the connector and can maintain it under a support plan, rather than leaving it to you.
Fixed-price packages with the scope written down, paid stage by stage. Your project goes live once it's fully paid.
Official documentation and guidance if you want to read more about this topic.
Yes, Point of Sale is included in Odoo Community, including the core restaurant features. Some hardware connections through the IoT Box and certain add-ons, such as specific payment terminal integrations or the kitchen display, depend on Enterprise or your Odoo version.
Odoo POS can keep taking orders for a while if the connection drops once a session is open, and it syncs orders when the connection returns. It is not designed for long-term offline operation, so a reliable connection or backup link is still recommended.
Odoo POS works with common receipt printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers, customer displays and scales, some directly from the browser and others through an IoT Box. Payment terminal support depends on the providers Odoo integrates with in your country, which we check before you buy hardware.
Odoo does not include FBR POS integration as standard, but it can be added with a custom module that reports invoices to FBR and prints the required details on receipts. We scope this based on FBR's current technical requirements, and your tax adviser confirms whether the requirement applies to your business.
Yes. Each branch or counter has its own POS configuration, stock location and journals, while products, prices and customers are shared and head office reports across all of them.
Odoo POS is usually the better choice when you also want Odoo for stock and accounting, since everything shares one database. A custom POS makes sense for unusual workflows, special hardware or heavy offline needs, and can still be integrated with Odoo.
